These air fryer chicken fajitas are juicy, bursting with flavor and PERFECT for meal prep! This recipe comes together with just a few simple ingredients and cooks up quickly. Serve these air fryer chicken fajitas wrapped up in a tortilla, in bowl with rice and beans, or over a bed of crisp greens.
This is one of our family-favorite recipes to portion out for meal prep lunches.
So, you’ll simply slice up some bell peppers, onions, and chicken breast, season with some fresh lime juice and my homemade fajitas seasoning, and toss in the air fryer. The hardest part of making fajitas in the air fryer is slicing up all your ingredients – I promise!
Homemade Fajita Seasoning

I’m not a huge fan of pre-made spice mixes. They always seem to include questionable ingredients, and they never taste quite as good as I want, and so I end up doctoring them up, anyway.
My homemade fajita seasoning is so easy to whip up and is totally bursting with flavor. This is enough seasoning for one pound of meat, but feel free to double or triple the quantities so you can keep it on hand.
My homemade fajita seasoning is a mix of:
- Salt
- Garlic powder
- Smoked paprika (you can also use regular paprika)
- Oregano
- Cumin
- Black pepper.
Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas Ingredients

These air fryer fajitas have just a few basic ingredients. Besides my homemade fajita seasoning, you’ll need:
- Chicken breast
- Sweet bell peppers
- Onion
- Fresh lime juice
- Olive oil
- Optional – cilantro if you like it.
- That’s it!
How To Make Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas
Start by slicing your chicken, bell pepper and onion into strips. Try to make your strips evenly sliced, but don’t slice them too large or too thin – I think a half-inch slice is perfect!

Then, you’ll add your sliced chicken and vegetables to a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, lime juice, and your fajita seasoning.

I like to use tongs to gently coat all everything in the oil/lime juice and spice mix. (I don’t know about you, but I get totally grossed out touching raw meat. But luckily, my husband always comes to my rescue by doing things like slicing chicken or mixing raw ground meat for my meatball or meatloaf recipes. He’s a keeper, LOL)
Next, you’ll want to add them to your air fryer basket. I use the Ninja Foodi XL air fryer, so I can lay the pieces out on the included baking tray, but this recipe will also work in a smaller, basket-style air fryer, just try not to overfill the air fryer basket. You may need to split the recipe in two batches.

I also like to use tongs to add to the air fryer, too.
That’s it! Air fry at 390 degrees for about 10 minutes, and then shake the basket/pan and continue air fryer for about 5-10 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and veggies have a little char. You can test by either cutting through a slice of chicken to see if there is any pink remaining, or, my preferred method – by using a meat thermometer and making sure it is registering 165 degrees.
If you like cilantro, sprinkle some on for extra flavor! Or you could drizzle on some of my homemade avocado lime ranch dressing!
How to Serve Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas
My favorite way to eat air fryer fajitas is by wrapping the filling inside a flour tortilla. Then, add in a little hot sauce, shredded cheese and sour cream, and it’s total heaven!
My little one prefers her in a bowl, on top of rice and beans, with a little sour cream, lettuce, and a few extra squeezes of lime, because she’s extra.
But, my husband loves to eat these straight out of the air fryer! No assembly required – he just eats it like a stir fry, LOL.
If you like these fajitas, you’ll love my healthy chicken nuggets in the air fryer!
