Easy Vanilla Milk Tea (Sugar Free)

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Slow down and savor a cup of rich and creamy vanilla milk tea. This simple tea tastes like dessert and hits the spot when I’m craving a sweet treat. It takes just a few minutes to whip up and I always have these basic ingredients on hand.

My husband and I both work remotely from home. And after a trip to London that included many afternoon teas, we picked up a bit of a tea habit. There’s something about that 3pm afternoon slump that has me craving a little pick-me-up. And a nice cup of tea always seems to hit the spot. One of our favorites is a sweet vanilla milk tea.

Milk tea is basically what it sounds like: a robust black tea, with a splash of milk and a bit of sweetener. I prefer using a strong English Breakfast tea, like this one from Twinnings. We actually discovered this brand on our recent trip to London, when we stumbled across the Twinnings tea shop. We did a masterclass and sampled lots of teas, and even wandered through their little museum in the back of the shop.

So obviously, we brought back several boxes of their Strong English Breakfast tea. I was excited to see that it was also available to buy on Amazon so we can replenish our stash as needed.

How to Make Vanilla Milk Tea

Start by freshly brewing some black tea. (My favorite variety of black tea is English Breakfast tea.)

If you’re using a strong English Breakfast tea, I like to use one tea bag to make two teacup-sized servings. If you are using a regular strength black tea, you can always use two tea bags. Then, just top your brewed tea with a splash of milk and a bit of vanilla syrup for a delicious and easy vanilla milk tea!

To keep this vanilla milk tea lower calorie, I like to a use a sugar-free vanilla syrup and 2% milk.

I like to add about a tablespoon or so of milk and two teaspoons of the vanilla syrup, but you can adjust to your preferred tastes.

I’d also recommend trying my recipe for a low calorie cinnamon roll in a mug. It’s delicious!
