Greek Yogurt Scones with Cheddar and Rosemary

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe
savory greek yogurt scones.

This easy recipe for Greek yogurt scones made with cheddar and rosemary ALWAYS hit the spot. These savory Greek yogurt scones are light and fluffy, and have a ton of flavor from sharp cheddar cheese and rosemary. I’ve always loved the flavor combo of a sharp cheddar and rosemary. It’s delicious and goes well with vegetable soups of all sorts!

The Greek yogurt keeps the scones moist and also packs in a little extra protein. Have you ever tried scones made with yogurt?

What I love about scones made with yogurt is that by choosing a Greek nonfat option, you can really lose a ton of fat and calories, add in extra protein, and have wonderfully flaky and fluffy scones that definitely don’t taste like “diet food”.

Ingredients for Cheddar Rosemary Scones

ingredients for greek yogurt scones.

This Greek yogurt scones recipe uses just a few ingredients, all of which I always have on hand.

  • All purpose flour
  • Greek yogurt
  • Salt
  • Dried rosemary
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Baking powder

That’s it! If you don’t have Greek yogurt on hand, you can substitute regular yogurt, but will need to use a bit less yogurt or a bit more flour as regular yogurt has a lot more liquid that a strained Greek-style yogurt.

How to make Cheddar Rosemary Scones with yogurt

These Greek yogurt scones come together super quick! First, you’ll want to preheat your oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Next, mix together all-purpose flour with salt, baking powder and dried rosemary.

Add in the shredded cheese and give it a good stir.

Add in your Greek yogurt and mix with a spoon until a soft dough forms. Some brands of Greek yogurt are “more wet” than others, so if you find that your dough feels a bit too dry, add in 1 tsp of water if needed.

These turned out well. Good alternative to using heavy cream. I didn’t have any cheese, so I made cinnamon raisin scones with orange zest and juice instead of water. Yummy!

I can’t figure out where 7 g of protein came from. Added whey protein powder to mine to up it.
