Easy Cilantro Lime Crema Sauce

If you’re looking for a delicious way to add some zing to your Mexican dishes, try this easy recipe for my cilantro lime crema. Cilantro lime crema is a type of sauce or dressing that is commonly used in Mexican cuisine. Traditionally it’s made with sour cream and mayonnaise, garlic, cilantro, chilis and lime juice. The tangy flavor of lime and the fresh, earthy bite of cilantro pair together to make a totally addictive sauce.

My recipe is so easy to make and contains just a few ingredients. I kept my sauce a bit lighter and higher in protein by substituting Greek yogurt for the sour cream and mayonnaise. This tangy and creamy sauce is made with fresh cilantro, lime juice, garlic and Greek yogurt and it’s the perfect sauce to drizzle on tacos, burritos, nachos, or even to use as a salad dressing!

How to Make Cilantro Lime Crema

The best way to make this sauce is in a blender. I used my Ninja Blender‘s blender cup, but you can use any blender you have, or even a food processor.

Just add all your ingredients to the blender cup and blend until smooth. That’s it!

Can you make Cilantro Lime Crema ahead of time?

Yes! You can make this sauce in advance and it actually tastes better the longer it sits.

How long does Cilantro Lime Crema last in the fridge?

The sauce can generally be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days.

What dishes can you serve with Cilantro Lime Crema?

This sauce is great to drizzle on tacos (I especially love it on my air fryer shrimp tacos), on burritos or even nachos. It’s also great as a salad dressing or used as a dip for cooked shrimp or chicken.

Is Cilantro Lime Crema spicy?

Some recipes for lime crema can be spicy, but mine is not. If you prefer a spicier sauce, add in one jalapeño as you are blending the ingredients.

  • 1/2 cup cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
